The Minnesota Timberwolves look to improve after their disappointing regular season last year. Kevin Garnett is one of the most consistent players in NBA history, and needs a good supporting cast to take this team to the playoffs. The problem with this team is that they need to win now, and not later. Kevin Garnett will be on the decline of his career in a few years, and needs a good veteran squad to go further than just the first round of playoffs. The Timberwolves have picked up a great young prospect from the 2006 NBA Draft in Randy Foye.

The first issue the Minnesota Timberwolves might address is the discontent of superstar Kevin Garnett. In the past seasons, Garnett has expressed his desire to win and annoyance with losing. After falling in the first round of the playoffs numerous times, then finally passing the first round, only to not make the playoffs for the next two seasons, Garnett has to be furious with the front office. Although, team officials have announced Garnett isn’t going anywhere, the idea of forming a possible trade to rebuild the team is always an option.

A supporting cast for the ?Big Ticket?, as Kevin Garnett is often referred to, had to be on the top of the list of first things needed to improve. The Timberwolves have made seven straight playoffs, but have ... had seven straight first round exits. When time came to resign Garnett, he wanted assurances that more pieces would be added to help the team go farther. He got those assurances, resigned for the long term, and ownership delivered. In the offseason before 2004, the Minnesota Timberwolves signed former Knick Lattrell Sprewell, 2-time NBA champion guard with the Rockets Sam Cassell, 3-time NBA champion forward Mark Madsen of the Lakers and big man Michael Olawakandie of the Clippers.
