All Nippon Airways - Japan’s Ministry of Transport has approved the carrier to begin daily service from Tokyo to Chicago on April 13. Authorized to launch new service under the terms of an aviation treaty signed by Japan and the U.S. in April, 1998, ANA has already begun daily service from Tokyo to both Honolulu and San Francisco. ANA will utilize B-747-400s on the route with A319 seats in First Class, Club ANA business class, and Economy Class. Currently, ANA has 42 flights each week to Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. (PRNewswire, Mar. 18)

VAN NUYS, Calif., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ministry of Defense for the United Kingdom has awarded a $4M contract to ITT Gilfillan for their PAR-2000 Precision Approach Radar. The system will be supplied to the Headquarters Logistics Command to support the Royal Air Force's requirement for a highly reliable state-of-the-art precision approach radar. The operational requirements demand that the PAR-2000 have a rugged design which can withstand rapid changes in weather and operate in very high winds. The radar system gives the Royal Air Force the capability of serving several runways during adverse weather conditions and to remotely monitor radar performance. Along with the PAR-2000 hardware and software, ITT Gilfillan will provide training and Contractor Logistics Support for a five year period will be provided. ITT Gilfillan was selected by the Royal Air Force in a competitive procurement.
