Wonderfully maintained her position as a popular movie star with wide range of roles, Milla Jovovich has really stood out among other fellow models-turned-actresses. A daughter of Serbian pediatrician and Ukrainian actress born Militza Jovovich on December 17, 1975 in Kiev, Ukraine, little Milla spent her early childhood traveling between two countries as her father, Bogdanovitch Jovovic, at that time was still conducting his medical studies in London, England while her mother, Galina Loginova remained in Russia. Sensed that his medical practice could not grow well in the Russian economy, Bogdanovitch ... decided to start a new life in Sacramento, California by the time his daughter turned 5, but in the end he finally took the family to settle in much bigger city of Los Angeles some months later.

Through her increasingly high-profile modeling career, Milla Jovovich showed an interest in acting and even attended California’s Professional Actors school to hone her craft. In 1988, Milla made her professional debut with a small role in the erotic drama Two Moon Junction, which she quickly followed up with one-episode appearances in sitcoms like Married with Children and Parker Lewis Can’t Lose. They subsequently lived in Sacramento, California, USA before settling in Los Angeles, California seven months later. Jovovich's mother attempted to support the family with acting jobs, but found little success, and eventually resorted to cleaning houses to earn money. Both her father and mother provided house cleaning services for director Brian de Palma.[7] Jovovich's father was incarcerated for most of her childhood for taking part in a health-insurance scam; he was released in 1999 after 20 years in prison. Jovovich began acting in her youth under the guidance of her mother. She appeared in Two Moon Junction and The Night Train to Kathmandu in 1988 and in 1989 she made guest appearances in Married with Children and Parker Lewis Can't Lose which starred Corin Nemec. In 1991, she starred in Return to the Blue Lagoon. Her performance garnered nominations for Best Young Actress Starring in a Motion Picture' at the 1991 Young Artist Awards, and 'Worst New Star' at the 1991 Golden Raspberry Awards.

Jovovich ... led a band called Plastic Has Memory that played about a dozen shows in Los Angeles and New York City in 1999. Though Plastic Has Memory was featured on Hollywood Goes Wild, a benefit celebrity compilation CD, the group never formally released a record and is no longer together. Jovovich recorded the single Rocket Collecting, which appeared on the soundtrack for the film Underworld. Her vocals also appeared on the 2004 album Legion of Boom by The Crystal Method.
