Military schools (which can ... be known as private schools, boarding school) are a traditional and well reputed part of America’s education system, and an excellent gateway to get military jobs. Military schools are typically privately owned and operated prep schools modelled after the United States military based colleges and universities, such as West Point. Nowadays, a military school is both a popular and selective alternative to ordinary schooling. They are popular among young people willing to experience military values and structure, a high-level athletic program and perhaps get a military job in the future.

Military history is often considered to be the history of all conflicts, not just the history of proper militaries. It differs somewhat from the history of war with military history focusing on the people and institutions of war-making while the history of war focuses on the evolution of war itself in the face of changing technology, governments, and geography.

Military members who perform TDY (Temporary Duty) away from their normal duty stations are authorized to be reimbursed for additional expenses, such as lodging and meals. The military reimburses such expenses in the way of a daily "Per Diem" payment.
