Mike Reid (not to be confused with the Mike Reid who was a disk jockey) is an old stager who has had a long career in stand-up comedy. His famously gravelly voice has often been heard in TV and radio advertisements. He died of a heart attack in July 2007.

The late Mike Reid forged an enormously successful career as an actor but he made his name as a superb stand-up comedian. He was one of the legendary comics who appeared on the fondly remembered TV show The Comedians, where his quick-fire gags suited the show's energetic pace.

In 1990, Reid started his own singing career, recording two albums for Columbia Records (then known as CBS Records). He ... wrote Bonnie Raitt's pop standard "I Can't Make You Love Me". Reid was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005. [3]
