- Midtown Madness
With single and multi-player modes, a huge number of unlockable vehicles and more laughs per square inch then a clown sucking helium through a straw, Midtown Madness is a joy to play. This is car racing at its lunatic, comic-book best. Based on the streets of Washington DC and Paris, MM3 offers a fairly standard selection of one-player modes including checkpoint racing, first to the finish line challenges and a leisurely cruise mode for Sunday drivers who can't be doing with speeds over 55 mph. For the third release in the MM series, Microsoft have added an undercover mode in an effort to give lone players a running goal to aim for--whether it's busting the mafia as an undercover investigator or playing bodyguard and minder for a famous racing driver. In reality the story modes are paper thin and the plotline (such as it is) is best ignored in favour of completing the missions themselves. - Midtown Madness -- Midtown Madness 3
In Midtown Madness 3 you get to drive a 1985 Renault really, really fast through the streets and sidewalks of its home stomping grounds, Paris. "Drive" is really the wrong word, though; you get to knock over light standards and fenceposts and you get to frighten the children and the pedestrians and the odd stray mime artist. You get to operate your little Le Car like a complete bloody fool with zero consequences. It is about as great as simulated motoring gets. - Midtown Madness 3 -- Cities
Like Midnight Club II, Midtown Madness 3 concentrates on arcade-style racing on the streets of real-life citiesin this case, Washington, D.C., and Paris. It's a bit more cartoonish than Midnight Clubfor example, you'll find a ski jump on the National Mall in front of the Smithsonianbut at least you're driving cars like the Hummer H2 and the Mini Cooper. - Midtown Madness -- Cities
The original Midtown Madness allowed players to race through Chicago. Around the Sears Tower, through Soldier Field, wherever you wanted. The entire city was mapped out in amazing detail. Two new cities, London and San Francisco, are presented in MM2, each with a very different feel. - Midtown Madness -- Games
The game is very easy to understand and Midtown Madness 3's controls only enhance the pick up and play value. The vehicles control quite well using either the analog stick or the D-pad and can be quite responsive, though don't expect the subtlety of Gran Turismo. The physics and AI are relatively simple, but this stripped down approach works because it allows you to plow through streets and objects without worrying about car damage too much. Players don't really have to worry to much about tuning or anything and can instead concentrate on beating the clock or other drivers. Players can ... select either manual or automatic transmissions, though obviously, the automatic enhances the arcade feel. The onscreen interface is nicely setup and shows the map, your speed, and the position of the other drivers. - Midtown Madness 3 -- Games
The graphics in Midtown Madness 3 are top notch. Crisp clear visuals with excellent use of lighting, great reflections off all surfaces and the game doesn't seem to suffer from any slowdown. When you see the amount of traffic in single-player this is a wonderful achievement. Damage models on the main car are handled nicely with various panels getting dented and boots 'n bonnets coming off, but unfortunately the city traffic do not show any damage at all. There are one or two very minor niggles - one being that the framerate is only running at 30fps, although saying that once the faster cars are unlocked like the Lotus Espirit and Dodge Viper then the game really moves at speed. Collision detection is the other. - Illusions -- Digital Illusions
Swedish game developer, Digital Illusions (DICE) is currently working on bringing out the latest version of Microsoft's best selling Midtown Madness for the Xbox video game system. The original contract was announced in 2001, without disclosing the actual title. - New York City Tour -- Big Apple
If the quirky denizens, the rubbish and the noise of New York City are driving you mad, ditch out on Greenwich Village or Times Square and catch the next Metro-North Commuter train up to the historic and scenic Hudson Valley region. Rustically removed and charming villages like Briarcliff Manor allow you to center your self while continuing to delight in the boons of city life, like superior dining and first-rate shopping. When you consider the acres of parkland, the friendly residents and the quaint streets of Briarcliff Manor, New York City seems rather bleak. Ambling through the brick roads and river walks is so far from the crunch of taxi rides and subway time tables. So if the Big Apple is a little too much stimuli for you, relax and kick back along the Hudson River where the people, the trees and sights are simply a breath of fresh air. - Nj Transit -- New Jersey
NJ Transit is preparing to construct a new two-track Hudson River tunnel adjacent to the two existing single-track tunnels (built in the early 20th century by the Pennsylvania Railroad). The tunnels are on the Northeast Corridor. NJ Transit is billing this project as THE Tunnel or Trans-Hudson Express Tunnel, which using Dual-Mode Locomotives will allow for the first time a 1-seat ride between the Port Jervis, Main, Bergen County, Pascack Valley, and Raritan Valley lines and Penn Station New York. Governor Jon Corzine has announced that groundwork may begin in 2009 with the tunnels finished in 2016[4]. Engineering has recently commenced on this tunnel towards the goal of completion, following recent approval of $2 billion of funding by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey[5]. - Sabre Wulf
At first glance, Sabre Wulf appears to be a conglomeration of past Rare titles. The game's overworld looks a lot like Banjo Kazooie whilst the main action stages feature many resemblances to the Donkey Kong Country series. However, just a couple of levels in and it becomes clear that Sabre Wulf is in fact a very original title, offering a mixture of platforming and puzzle solving with a little adventuring that is quite unlike any other Game Boy Advance game out there. Much like Grunty's Revenge, there is a rather large overworld that forms the adventure part of the game. Within this overworld are eight main areas that the wicked Sabrewulf has attacked, and it's up to Sabreman to travel the corners of the map tracking down the Wulf, whilst helping out the local villagers. Within the villages are shops where various items can be bought, as well as a good number of inhabitants, many of which will ask Sabreman to deliver an item to a certain character in another village or area.
