Michael Richards, who played the lovable hipster doofus Kramer on Seinfeld for 10 years, had a meltdown when two African-American men heckled him in a Los Angeles comedy club. Richards unleashed a tirade of racist and profane insults — including the n-word, plus a reference to unthinkable physical abuse, including an implied lynching.

Image:Michael-richards-showAA.jpg After his previous show, Seinfeld, stopped production, Michael Richards reteamed with three former Seinfeld writers/producers in a comedy caper about a private eye in Los Angeles. When originally conceived, Richards wanted to differentiate his character from Kramer, the role he immortalized on Seinfeld. However, the network disagreed and decided that character would share characteristics with his previous role.
When Seinfeld's Michael Richards took the stage at L.A.'s Laugh Factory on Nov. 17, 2006, the audience was probably hoping for Kramer-ish pratfalls and copious arm-flailing. What they got instead was a racist diatribe directed at a group of African-American hecklers. Thanks to a cell-phone camera, the tirade immediately hit the Web, earning the actor nationwide condemnation. Three days later, Richards appeared via satellite on David Letterman's show, apologizing and pledging to seek help.

Michael Anthony Richards (born July 24, 1949) is an American comedy actor. He is best known for playing Cosmo Kramer on the television show Seinfeld. He has three Emmy Awards. He caused a notable controversy when his shouting of racial slurs at black hecklers in a comedy club was broadcast worldwide in news reports.
In this new show Michael Richards plays private detective Vic Nardozza. While Vic is not Kramer, he still does share the same physical comedy that Michael Richards is known for. But if the character is Vic Nardozza, and if the show is about an office of private detectives (the show did not follow Vic exclusively), why name it

The year the show was cancelled is the year Richards made his feature film debut, in Garry Marshall's comedy Young Doctors in Love (1982). Though Richards subsequently never lacked for work in features and television, he remained relatively obscure until fellow Fridays castmate Larry David called to offer him a part in The Seinfeld Chronicles, a show he had recently developed with comedian Jerry Seinfeld. After a rocky start, the show was renamed Seinfeld and given a regular timeslot. Richard's character Kramer was based on one of David's friends. It took the actor a few episodes to develop his kooky alter ego, but once he did the results were dazzling, garnering Richards a trio of Emmys for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Playing Kramer was not always easy for him.
