As the global economic environment continues in a state of uncertainty, it may be more important than ever to purchase insurance for Mexico from a financially strong insurer. No matter how reputable your agent or broker, if they are placing your insurance with a troubled insurer you could be in for some unpleasant surprises in the event of a claim. Collision insurance is not required in Mexico but is available at affordable rates from Mexican and U.S. carriers. With a higher premium, the policyholder is allowed more flexibility, such as seeking medical care from a physician outside of the PPO network and not needing a referral from their primary physician. When seeking medical attention outside of the PPO network, the insurance company will usually reimburse the policyholder for up to 80% of the medical bill.
