It does have its issues, but this is an excellent portable first person shooter. Not only does the DS once again innovate the whole industry by allowing players to utilise the touchscreen as a pseudo-mouse control mode, but the inclusion of online multiplayer extends this game well past the single player mode. Those looking at purchasing this game for the single player won't be disappointed either, as there are additional endings depending on how much of the game you're able to complete. In the end, what Nintendo has really done with this game is set the bar extremely high for any future portable FPS title that even wants to be considered above average.

Japanese box art The creatures in Metroid Prime Hunters are a mix of traditional Metroid and Metroid Prime enemies, like the Zoomers and a more challenging variety of new enemies like the Guardians. Strangely-and ironically enough, there are no Metroids in the game, instead there is the Quadtroid, which is similar in style of attacking to that of the Metroid.
In Metroid Prime Hunters, the legendary Metroid franchise continues with new hunters, new abilities, new weapons and new alternate forms. With worldwide Wi-Fi connectivity, there's always a band of hunters eager to challenge a player's skills. Metroid Prime Hunters is ... the first Nintendo DS game to offer real-time voice chat, letting players talk to one another before and after they face off in a multiplayer match. The chat technology functions much like a two-way radio and lets players intimidate opponents with some friendly trash talk. With this free service, players who have exchanged their Nintendo DS friend codes can converse through Nintendo DS across the Americas. Players must be logged on to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to use the chat feature.
Metroid Prime Hunters nestles comfortably in the gap laid between the original Metroid Prime on the GameCube and its sequel, Metroid Prime: Echoes. To compliment this bounty hunter sandwich, NST's kept to the visual style and the gameplay framework on the Nintendo DS, but tailoring the idea to the strengths of the Nintendo DS. This naturally means "dual screen gaming" but it's how the team went about it that brings this design a lot closer to the first-person shooter genre on the PC than the console games (and their fancy, new-fangled analog sticks) have ever gotten.

According to NST game designer Richard Vorodi, Metroid Prime Hunters at final testing, was just a little shorter than Retro's Metroid Prime. Whether that is a run-through of Metroid Prime for the first time or a second or third run through MP wasn't clarified. But, according to Nintendo, the game has some meat to it. more

Metroid Prime Hunters is regarded as the worst Metroid game in the Metroid series by the majority of fans to the series. This is mainly due to its linear single player experience and repetition of gameplay elements. The game is highly criticized for the absence of Metroids; ...
