Metis: Miscellaneous

Metis at larger septs are generally a bit 'luckier' since there may well be other metis cubs of similar age in residence that they can interact with. Larger septs are ... more likely to have someone experienced with raising metis cubs, who may arrange for a visit to another sept with a metis pup to get a lone metis some much needed social interaction.

The photographs taken by Voyager 1 showed Metis only as a dot, and hence knowledge about Metis was very limited until the arrival of the Galileo spacecraft. Galileo imaged almost all of the surface of Metis and put constraints on its composition.[4]

May 30: Federal Legislation is passed stating that prosecutions for an offense concerning half-breed (Metis) script must be brought forward within three years of the date of its commission. Subsequently the charges against Richard Secord are dropped. The clear message, after years of petitions, is that Anglo-Saxon Common Law provides protection to the rich and powerful but no recourse to the poor. The law is repealed in 1922 but the charges against Secord and many others are not re-filed. The Metis had now completely lost faith in the Canadian System. It takes a long time to understand you can't win at Chinese baseball when your basic historical nature is trusting and forgiving.

The Metis gift for clothing decoration was evident in the multiple bags they used for carrying gun powder or tobacco. A classis design was the bag carried on the shoulder called an Octopus pouch.

While the purpose of Metis is not to support large-scale distributed virtual environments or internet-based applications, it could be used to implement Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) browsers. Metis' run-time object structures have been designed to conform closely to the VRML2.0 standard [SGI96], and it is expected that the toolkit will eventually be able to import VRML2.0 files directly.

These images of the inner Jovian moons Thebe, Amalthea, and Metis (left to right) are the highest-resolution images ever obtained of these small, irregularly shaped satellites. The images resolve surface features as small as 2 kilometers (about 1.2 miles) across for Thebe; 2.4 kilometers (about 1.5 miles) across for Amalthea, and 3 kilometers (about 1.9 miles) across for Metis.
