Like every other Metal Gear Solid game, a great deal of Portable Ops is being kept away from prying eyes as to not spoil the important storyline aspects. But just the thought of a full-fledged console-quality Metal Gear exclusive to PSP is a mouth-watering proposition, and the hook of being the game that effectively ties the Big Boss games with the Solid Snake games makes for a game that will wind up being very important to the Metal Gear saga. It could ... be a killer-app that can sell PSP systems when it ships sometime in 2007, giving Sony a bit of a boost in the portable marketplace. So while it's a-okay to hype MGS4 to the hills, don't forget the little guy, and don't forget the newest adventure of Big Boss.
Set in the 1960s, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater thrusts players into a time period rife with political turmoil, where the global political landscape and escalation of war are shaping real world history. Players will plot a dangerous solo mission to infiltrate a heavily guarded enemy territory and uncover highly coveted secrets behind a newly created weapon of mass destruction. Gamers will journey through fully interactive, immersive and open-ended outside jungle environments that bring the realism and stealth combat to a whole new dynamic.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Libertyscreenshot The original Metal Gear Solid was sometimes criticized for the implausible behavior of its guards. If they spotted you, they'd rush at you mindlessly, and while killing them was easy enough, all you really had to do was stay out of sight for less than a minute and then they'd go back to their business as though nothing happened. They're more believable in the sequel--guards will hunt for you for a much longer period of time than in the previous game, so the alarm is a bigger problem than before. What's great is that, since guards have to radio in to raise the alarm, you'll actually have a moment to react if you're spotted. Most notably, a well-placed shot can disable a guard's radio, preventing the general alarm. But in a devious new twist, in many areas, even if you take out all the guards undetected, reinforcements will eventually show up to investigate why contact was lost with the others.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater The Metal Gear Solid franchise takes a major step forward on PlayStation 2 with Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. For the first time, the game is set in a sweltering jungle where players must fight for survival by battling relentless natural elements, as well as an onslaught of ruthless enemy soldiers. Suspenseful stealth action delivers heart-pounding sequences like never before. The game's extraordinary gameplay and intense plot combine with riveting music, high-definition sound and astonishingly detailed graphics for a completely unique interactive gaming experience.
