Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots screenshot [One] really cool feature of Metal Gear Solid 4 is the different status meters that you'll use to keep Snake happy and healthy. There are a grand total of three different meters that you'll be using: a life meter, a psyche meter, and a stress meter. The health meter is what you would expect and just shows how much damage you can take from bullets and other miscellaneous things that hit you. The psyche meter deals with how well Snake is coping with the battle at hand. If it gets too hectic, or too hot even, his psyche will go down, which will translate to less accuracy when aiming and lower overall performance. The cool thing about this feature is that the basis for the psyche meter comes from actual data recorded from soldiers out in the field.

The gameplay in Metal Gear Solid 3 has a sandbox quality that is a rare achievement for Kojima. Many have criticized his limited gameplay spaces in previous games, and rightfully so. But Snake Eater is a leap beyond the cramped playgrounds of both Metal Gear Solid and Sons of Liberty. The huge jungle-like environments of Metal Gear Solid 3 allow for endless variations of sneaking strategies. A single screen can take hours or minutes depending on how one chooses to use the plethora of items, weapons, and camo at Snake's disposal. As in previous games Snake has a radio support team that can be contacted at any time. They will comment on virtually every idiosyncrasy the game contains, from weapon information, to political backstory, to character information, to classic movie trivia.

Though Metal Gear Acid won't have the same production values as a normal Metal Gear Solid release does, that's not to say it won't reach some alike heights. The longtime voice of the Solid Snake character, David Hayter? Gone. The voices of other characters in the game? Gone. Metal Gear Acid will feature a text-based, picturesque styled storyline instead of what was received in its former next-gen action editions.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which is chronologically the first game in the series, introduces a younger version of Big Boss during the Cold War, who goes by the codename of Naked Snake. The game focuses on the rise of Naked Snake from apprentice to legendary soldier, as well as the downfall of his mentor and mother figure, The Boss. The origins of the Metal Gear mecha, The Patriots and FOXHOUND are all explored in MGS3. The game ... features a younger version of Ocelot, where his origin as a triple agent for the KGB, GRU and CIA is explored. The recent Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, serves as a direct sequel to MGS3 and features some of the same supporting characters.
Metal Gear Acid The Metal Gear series comes to the PSP offering a new gameplay system and storyline. In Metal Gear Acid, you'll take on the role of Solid Snake, a top-secret agent who's an expert at infiltration. It's up to you to make calculated decisions to plan out your strategy and accomplish missions in a turn-based style of game. Strategic battle cards give you different abilities and stealth tactics that help you achieve mission objectives. Experience a deeper kind of tactical espionage in the palm of your hand.
