Mescaline can be used in a variety of ways. It can be taken in pill form, chewed, swallowed as a drink, or injected. Many users of mescaline do not like to chew or drink the substance as it tastes very bitter. Often times when taken in drink form, it is mixed with coffee, a soft drink, or orange juice to mask the taste.

Mescaline can be modified into many other similar compounds, but only by adding a methyl group at the a-carbon site does the resultant substance become psychoactive. The exact homolog of mescaline is TMA. ( a potent mescaline amphetamine like high ) Other mescaline related hallucinogens are DMA, TMA-2, para-DOT, DOM (STP), DOB, and of course 2C-B.
