Mercury Monterey

The Mercury Monterey full-size line was in production by Ford Motor Co. from the model year 1950 to 1971. A near luxury vehicle, a step above a Ford and a step below a Lincoln, the Mercury Monterey filled the gap between functionality and luxury. The Monterey’s of the 50’s featured long flat bodies with subtle fins protruding from the rear. As the 60’s came on the Monterey exterior flattened out, losing the fins and expanding the body slightly. During the muscle car era, the Mercury Monterey was given progressively stronger engines. The largest of the bunch was a 428 in³ V8 fitted to an automatic 3-speed transmission.

2005 Mercury Monterey The Mercury Monterey is an extremely competent minivan. It shares much in common with the Ford Freestar, which generally carries a lower list price than does the Monterey. However, depending on the trim level and content package, a Monterey with all of its standard fare could represent a better value than a Freestar that has to be loaded up with options. And Mercury offers features that the Freestar does not, including a seat-cooling system and perforated suede upholstery in the first and second rows.
The 1952 Mercury Monterey Special Custom Interior Just open the door of a new Mercury Monterey and discover how magnificently the talented designer has put space and color to work for you. Those interiors are "space-planned". They're "beauty-planned," too - deserving of the full feeling of pride that ownership assures. New durable, crack-proof vinyl leather upholsteries that are heat and fade resistant, as well as new fabrics made of new and different materials - tailored in "soft-hue" colors and combinations - add to the discreet richness of the Mercury Montereys.

The 2004 Mercury Monterey replaces the Villager minivan, which was developed through a joint venture between Ford and Nissan and built at a Ford plant in Ohio. (Nissan's version of the van was the previous-generation Quest; it since has been replaced with a dramatically styled all-new minivan of the same name.) The Villager was never considered a full-fledged minivan. It was far smaller than traditional minivans and in earlier generations it was extremely underpowered and carried a hefty price for its smaller package.
