Memory foam was first developed for NASA in the 1970's. Tempur-Pedic® created their own version of memory foam called Tempur® for use in the medical field. This led to the discovery that patients were sleeping better and had less pain in the mornings. Tempur-Pedic then decided to venture into the consumer market with their products.
