Make a contribution to The Melissa Institute Michael Aptman M.D., Melissa's father and one of the founders of the Institute, published an article in the journal, Neurology, entitled "One In A Million?" It expresses his professional and personal experiences as a result of Melissa's murder.
Born on April 9, 1991, Melissa was diagnosed in July 2006 with Auto Immune Hepatitis, and doctors at The Children’s Hospital in Denver performed a life-saving liver transplant December 5, 2006. An estimated $100,000 is being raised by Casper volunteers.
An informative brochure outlining the recent work and recommendations of the community based Building Program Committee (BPC) will be mailed to all Melissa residents during the week of February 11, 2008. The following week, on February 18, 2008, the Board of Trustees will host a public hearing beginning at 6:00 p.m. at 1904 Cooper Street in regard to the recently acceptedBPC recommendations. Community members are invited to attend the public hearing and take advantage of the opportunity to visit with BPC and Board of Trustee members about the BPC process and resulting recommendations.
