In another clinical trial in Holland - Melatonin was administered in 1400 women during a period of four years. Even high doses of up to 75mg per day were administrated and still no ill effects were detected. Till date no alarming side effect has been noticed from Melatonin usage. It is clinically safe to use Melatonin. Which is the reason why it is easily available over-the-counter as no-prescription drug.
