Mel Brooks, on his first directorial outing, scores a wild hit. Zero Mostel is a conniving theater producer, Gene Wilder his timid accountant. Together they persuade little old ladies into investing in their play "Springtime for Hitler," which they secretly hope will be a surefire flop. Kenneth Mars and Dick Shawn are marvelous as the play's writer and star. 90 min.
