In Mega Man X6, the mad scientist Gate began tampering with Zero's data. By studying a piece of Zero's body found in the debris, Gate created the new Nightmare Virus, a discolored clone of Zero (called "Zero Nightmare"), and the near-invulnerable Reploid, High Max. X, taking the assault on Zero's reputation personally, set out to investigate. Upon destroying the Zero Nightmare, X is reunited with his friend, self-repaired by his recovery-system underground. Together, X and Zero set out to defeat Gate and the imperfectly resurrected Sigma. Again, in this game Zero has his Z-Buster with slight differences: It takes a bit less time to use than in X5 and it seems to do more damage at a close range.
Cyber Elves, a core element of previous Mega Man Zero installments, are no longer required from the player. Shortly after the introductory levels, a Cyber Elf will arrive for Zero to equip. This elf has most of the powers of the all the Cyber Elves from previous games, which are unlocked as you raise its level by feeding it E-Crystals. Zero may select one power from each of the three categories: Nurse, Animal, and Hacker. The player's ranking is ... no longer penalized for using the Cyber Elves so long as they keep under the maximum power limit. In addition to this, Zero can now equip body chips to enhance his abilities, including double-jumping and self-recovery, similar to early Mega Man X titles.
The Mega Man Zero series, which has become an annual event for the Game Boy Advance since 2002 makes it's third appearance with Mega Man Zero 3. The game remains largely unchanged-- almost feeling like an expansion pak for the first two games released in the series. You may be able to see if your GBA can indeed bounce off of walls-- while the difficulty has been toned down a bit (there's more weapon upgrades and "cyber elfs" to collect to aid you) I've found myself more than frustrated a few points in the game. Worst, you're only given one life-- after that, you have to make another go at the level. Thankfully, continues abound in the game through the destruction of enemies. There's sixteen stages in all, and in a wonderful non-linear twist, you can for the most part decide the order you go through.

In the game Mega Man X: Command Mission, Zero is sent along with X and another Reploid, Shadow, to investigate Reploid uprisings in Giga City. Zero is separated from X after Shadow betrays them, and presumed dead, until he reappears some time later and attacks one of the rebelling Reploids in a mechaniloid factory. At this point, Zero is joined by X, Axl, and a number of other Reploids that X assembled to assist him. With Shadow's betrayal still fresh in his memory, Zero is unwilling to trust X's new friends, and promptly decides to work alone. However, one of the Reploids, Spider, risks his life in Zero's defense. After this, Zero decides to rejoin X's group permanently, although Spider eventually turns on them and reveals himself as Colonel Redips.
Rockman Zero 4 can be beat in a couple of hours even if you're not a Mega Man expert. While the hour count is deceivingly low there are a bunch of mini games hidden inside. To unlock Wood Chopping you need to achieve the hard to get S-rank for all levels. Hammer Harvest requires gamers to complete the entire game in under an hour. Plus the weather system can lead to different experiences, making the game worth a couple of playthroughs. Rockman Zero 4 isn't going to score huge on the originality scale or alter anyone's mind about the state of Mega Man games.
