Mega Man X6 is the sixth main game in the Mega Man X series by Capcom, and is the first to not be directed by series creator Keiji Inafune. The PlayStation version was released in 2001 in US and in Singapore's AMK Hub in 2007. The game was released for the PC in 2003 as well, but only in Asia. The game was re-released on January 10, 2006 as part of the Mega Man X Collection for the GameCube and PlayStation 2.

One of Mega Man X6's more-touted features is its nightmare system. Whenever you complete a level, you'll immediately notice that one of the mavericks on the maverick selection screen is highlighted in red, which indicates that particular level is currently being affected by the nightmare. Essentially, it means the level has been changed in some way, and these changes can range from the strategic placement of boxes for making specific areas more difficult to the appearance of spectral versions of Mega Man and Zero, which fly around on the level and deliver some serious damage. Some levels will even turn pitch-black with only a few shreds of light to help guide your way. And some levels--those that are affected by nightmare--change, depending on the level you've just exited. It's an interesting system, and while it does add some diversity to the game, it doesn't factor in as much as you might think it does.

You know, even Mega Man X6 had its good points, and so does this game. Unfortunately, the difference between MMX6 and MMNT is that in MMX6, while the game's difficulty is a supreme turn off, it does not hinder one's fundamental ability to play the game. well, the Battle Network license.

Mega Man X6 continues the action not long after the events of X5. The magnificent graphics, sound and gameplay already made famous in X4 & X5 are back, this time a load of new features will be making an appearance as well. The new Nightmare System is one, in which stages will affect each other by causing changes to occur throughout the stages, certain stages will ... have randomized sub-level areas. A new Reploid rescue system is another feature, where rescuing trapped Reploids in each stage will sometimes grant you new Power-up parts. The bosses encountered in the game will be the toughest yet, especially Gate's personal henchmen. A new Hunter Ranking system, new armor suits, stages, bosses, characters and more make this the most challenging and longest X game yet!

Highlight the "Game Start" option at the Mega Man X6 main menu, then press L, L, L, Z at the main menu. A sound will confirm code entry. Start a new game. When you rescue Zero after defeating him in battle, you will play as the Nightmare version of Zero. Nightmare Zero has all of Zero's moves, but is much more powerful.

Mega Man X6 is yet another addition to the long-running Capcom franchise. Picking up immediately after the events in Mega Man X5, the Blue Bomber finds himself investigating recent reports of reploids running amok. Only he can save the reploids and avenge Zero's sacrifice. Following the same formula that the series' forefathers adhered to, this latest PlayStation incarnation sees Mega Man X traveling through eight levels, each of which houses a boss character whose weapon can be claimed by Mega Man X once defeated. As an added bonus, Mega Man X can now use Zero's sword throughout his adventure.
