Many new features and additions are added in Mega Man 7. The first big thing is, instead of getting just life and weapon pellets when destroying any little fiend, you could get a bolt. The more bolts the better, they are like money. By pressing select on the Menu screen, you are taken to Eddy's. At Eddy's, you give a certain number of bolts to Auto, and he will make the item you selected. Such as an Energy Can or Weapon Can. In some levels you can meet Proto Man, Mega Man's brother.

To cellebrate the defeat of The Yellow Demon (and in real life, Dave's birthday), Mega Man, Proto Man, and The Author went to a bar to drink (and did so for at least 3 hours) [49]. The effects of many, many beers gave The Author two image trails behind him, ala The White Space, and made him want to find a woman to mate with [50]. Proto Man went to follow him, realizing that Roll was the only female in the comic [51], but was lucky to find out The Author had passed out, only saying he loved Roll and that Bob and George would be starting up again soon. Proto Man didn't believe the second half due to the fact that The Author was drunk. [52]

[B]y meeting up with Proto Man in a certain stage, Mega Man can obtain an item called the Energy Balancer. It allows Mega Man to recharge special weapons without equipping them. When Mega Man grabs a weapon recharge item, the energy goes into the weapon with the lowest charge (assuming Mega Man's current weapon doesn't need the energy).

With the first attempt of the hand drawn comic a failure, Mega Man and Proto Man attempted to complain to The Author about having to do the strips again. They soon found that The Author was not in the mood to talk, angry that the attempt had failed [33].

After returning to the lab, Dr. Light tells Mega Man that four more Robot Masters are tearing up the city, so he goes to defeat them as well. During his journey, he meets up with Proto Man who wishes to see which of the two Dr. Light made stronger, and upon defeating him, he is given the "Proto Shield" item.
