Mega Man 5

Mega Man 5, released in December of 1992, is probably the origin of all the "Protoman is evil!" nonsense, as the story involved Protoman supposedly taking over the world with eight robots. Of course, it's really Dr. Wily again. The fifth installment of the original Mega Man series is noted for its substandard music and for the introduction of Beat, a powerful robotic bird that proved itself highly useful against the final boss.

Mega Man 5 replaced BEAT, the bird that assisted Mega Man in the GB series, with TANGO, which is a cat, and functions just like BEAT. The Mega Buster was ... replaced with the Mega Arm. The Mega Arm is slightly stronger than the Mega Buster, but has its own set of drawbacks.

As with Mega Man 5, the same musical theme for the fortress stages was used for four consecutive levels, as opposed to using a theme for two levels and then using a different one. The same theme was used for all four levels of Mr. X's fortress, as well as the same theme being used for all four levels of Dr. Wily's fortress.

Mega Man will use his regular arm gun and the Mega Buster to defeat all the enemies. Once Mega Man reaches the gate, Mega Man will no longer be able to go back. At this point, Mega Man only obstacle to finish the level is to finish off Napalm Man.

Mega Man Anniversary Collection is just that, a collection of all 8 Mega Man games on one Nintendo GameCube disc. You can choose which games to play, and keep saved games independently in each Mega Man installment.

Mega Man: Wily's Conquest 2 edits the first 8 stages of the game. They are completely different; new stage graphics, new scrolling, new enemy graphics, new enemy placements, etc., have all been added. Enemies that weren't used in the original, such as the dropping bombs in Air Man's stage, help add some variety to the enemies, and the new two screen boss rooms are a welcome addition that help keep you on your toes.
