built 642 days ago
Medinah Country Club ... was the site of the 1988 U.S. Senior Open and three Western Opens. The club was a charter member of “America’s 200 Toughest Golf Courses” as selected by Golf Digest in 1966. The list has since been renamed and trimmed to “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses.” Medinah was rated No. 15 in the 2005 elite roster.

Medinah was originally founded in the Roaring Twenties and the objective was to create the finest country club in America. 54 holes were planned, and the first course, simply called No.1, was ready for play in 1925. The second course, unsurprisingly called No.2, followed behind a year later. We’ll give you one guess as to what the third course was called but most people won’t know that it was originally laid out for the Medinah ladies. No.3 course was ready for play in 1928 and much has changed since then.
In 1952, Charles A. Pollard purchased a few acres of farmland slightly northwest of Medinah Country Club, in Medinah, Illinois. It is here that the cornerstone of a family tradition was about to begin. A combination of skill, hard work, and dedication brought forth a plethora of homes constructed for the Fifties new-family lifestyle. His legacy continues today in the numerous projects the Pollard family has completed since and stands in testimony to the life and meaning of a value-built home.
