Medieval: Medieval World
built 630 days ago
BuyMusic Downloads Based on a story by George Lucas, with a screenplay written by Bob Dolman, "WILLOW" is director Ron Howard's fantasy world of medieval adventure. "WILLOW" stars Val Kilmer as Madmartigan, a swashbuckling warrior, and Warwick Davis as the title character. In a mythical kingdom, the evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh) plots to kill all infants so that the newborn princess, Elora, will never take over the throne. But a midwife sets the baby adrift in a river, and she is rescued by Willow, a farmer in Nelwyn, a peaceful village of trolls, fairies, and little folk. Willow and Madmartigan begin a quest to deliver the baby from evil while being chased by Queen Bavmorda's daughter, Sorsha (Joanne Whalley), sent to bring the baby back to Nockmaar.

Players will be swept back to the year 1588 A.D., when medieval knights undertook the Third Crusade. Initially history appears as it should until a disjunction rips open a long-sealed breach to other worlds causing magic energy and powerful spirits to flow into the world, changing the lands and the people forever. For those who can comprehend the nature of these new forces, the introduction of magic will bring great power. In this new yet strangely familiar setting, the player must confront the challenges ahead and decide how to best develop their character's skills and abilities to triumph over obstacles that lie before them to discover the meaning of their true fate.

Dorothy Sayers, a noted scholar in medieval literature as well as a famous writer of detective books, strongly objected to the term. In the foreword to her translation of The Song of Roland, she writes "That new-washed world of clear sun and glittering colour, which we call the Middle Age (as though it were middle-aged), has perhaps a better right than the blown summer of the Renaissance to be called the Age of Re-Birth."
There are volumes of books and countless collections of medieval history in homes and museums all over the world. If you ask people to list a few things belonging to the Medieval Ages, most all will include chivalrous medieval knights, huge fortified castles, very long medieval swords and, of course, "a damsel in distress".
The game is designed for one to five players who draw from a pool of tiles to create a beautiful ever growing medieval landscape. Players master this world by owning the largest towns, longest roads and biggest farms, not to mention a monastery or two.
