   Ally McBeal, despite low expectations from the network, proved to be a highly successful endeavor from writer/producer David E. Kelley. The notoriously tiny Calista Flockhart's neurotic portrayal of Ally fueled the show for six seasons, though it could not have lasted nearly as long without the insights of its eccentric supporting cast. Unique for its forays into the surreal, Ally McBeal as a show is as conflicted as its starring character. Half feministic endeavor, half a frustratingly traditional portrayal of lovelorn women, Ally McBeal danced precariously between law dramas of a more serious nature and Bridget Jones-esque "chick-shows." The series centered around the life of Ally McBeal, the quintessential "little girl lost," who, after graduating with a law degree from Harvard University, found herself in a law firm populated by an extraordinarily unconventional staff, including but not limited to Billy Thomas (Gil Bellows), her high school sweetheart. The show's premise allowed for quite a bit of creative freedom, and most episodes switched seamlessly from the thought-provoking (modern gender issues and sexual boundaries) to the absurd (remote control toilet flushers and pet frogs).

3. Lucy Liu -- Ally Mcbeal
   Born to Chinese immigrants and raised in an Italian neighborhood in Queens, Lucy Liu's interest in acting started after landing the lead role in her high school play Alice in Wonderland. She moved to Los Angeles to go pro, and her lucky break came in 1997 when she got a small part in Ally McBeal, playing razor-tongued Ling; she stole the show, and her role was expanded. Since then, the actress who staunchly insists she doesn't want to only play stereotypically Asian roles has rocketed to stardom as a member of the Charlie's Angels crime-fighting trio, the dominatrix in Payback and the butt-kicking O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill: Vol. 1.
4. Portia De Rossi -- Ally Mcbeal
   Born in Australia, Portia de Rossi reinvented herself at 15 by changing her name from Mandy Rogers. With her new exotic moniker in tow, de Rossi hit New York and Hollywood, leaving law school to appear opposite Hugh Grant and Elle Macpherson in "Sirens." Several lesser-profile films followed, including the campy "Scream 2" with Neve Campbell. Eventually, the lithe blonde bombshell appeared on television as ambitious ice queen Nelle Porter on the quirky FOX show "Ally McBeal." When "Ally" ended its five-year run, de Rossi resurfaced on the equally quirky yet critically praised "Arrested Development." De Rossi, who was once married for two years to documentary filmmaker Mel Metcalfe, made the headlines when she revealed she is a lesbian.
5. Courtney Thorne-Smith -- Ally Mcbeal
   Courtney Thorne-Smith (from “Ally McBeal” and “According to Jim”) is featured in a cover story from the Dec/Jan 2008 issue of Fit Pregnancy about her pregnancy. In case you didn’t know, Courtney was in celebrity weight news several years ago during her Ally McBeal stint - along with Calista Flockhart, she got pretty darn thin.
6. Ford -- Form
   Seventeen days later, another woman, Sara Jane Moore... tried to kill Ford while he was visiting San Francisco, but her attempt was thwarted when former marine Oliver Sipple deflected her shot. One person was injured when Moore fired, and she was later sentenced to life in prison.[35][36]

   Lucy Liu is an Asian American actress who grew to fame thanks to her role as the queen of bitches Ling Woo in Ally McBeal (... starring Portia de Rossi). She has also starred in major film blockbusters like Charlie’s Angels, with Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz and Kill Bill with Uma Thurman and Vivica A. Fox. In both films she kicks a lot of ass, but only one film is watchable. Try to guess which one.
9. Tobey Maguire -- Ang Lee
   Tobey was becoming an identifiable face by 1999, when he starred in the Oscar-winning The Cider House Rules, next to Michael Caine and Charlize Theron. He reunited with Ang Lee that same year for Ride with the Devil, and the following year he appeared in the critically-acclaimed Wonder Boys, starring Michael Douglas. Exploring his playful side, Tobey then lent his voice to "Lou the Beagle" in the animated Cats & Dogs in 2001.
10. Chayanne -- Music Guide
