Zoom In The Maybach 62 is the most decadent mode of transportation this side of a private jet, built for those who can afford to have someone else on staff to do the driving for them. For 2007, a sportier S version is newly offered that comes with an even quicker 600-plus-hp, AMG-enhanced, V12 engine. Either version delivers strong performance, ultimate interior luxury and virtually every automotive amenity yet invented, for those who can afford to own nothing but the very best in life.

Maybach is a mellow gentleman of about 2 yrs who loves nothing more than to sit in your lap. Or if you're lying on your side, he'll sit on your side, or on top of ... you may be positioned. He just likes to sit close & purr. He likes to play & cuddle up with other cats, too. Maybach doesn't have a naughty or cranky bone in his body. That's the Annandale Love Tribe* for ya!

The new, even more powerful twelve-cylinder engine in the Maybach 57 S has a displacement of six liters and an output of 612 bhp by virtue of a twin turbocharger and a water-type charge-air cooler. The impressive maximum torque of 738 lb-ft (electronically limited) is available over a wide engine speed range between 2000 and 4000 rpm. This provides the more sportily inclined Maybach driver with effortless power reserves at all times. Each of these muscular twelve-cylinder units has a newly designed cover and a model plate bearing the signature of the Mercedes-AMG technician who assembled it by hand on the "one man, one engine" principle.

The "S" in the model designation stands for "Special" and draws attention to the fact that Maybach has incorporated many features requested by their highly discerning customers into the 62 S model. The result is a new dimension in travelling comfort, especially for the passengers in the generously proportioned rear compartment of the new high-end luxury saloon. Not to mention a prodigious power output thanks to the enhanced potency of the twelve-cylinder engine developing 450 kW/612 hp, making the new Maybach 62 S model the world's most powerful chauffeur-driven saloon in series production.
At the 1889 Paris Exhibition, Daimler and Maybach exhibited a two-cylinder V-shaped engine, perhaps the first engine to use the "V" design. In 1890, theytogether formed the Daimler Motor Company, setting their factory in Cannstattto manufacture automobiles. It was as the company's technical director thatMaybach invented the float-feed carburetor (circa 1893), which made it possible to use gasoline to power internal combustion engines. (Previous to his invention, these engines were fueled by "illuminating" gas, which was a vapor, not a liquid.) Maybach's carburetor used screws to vary the amount of gasolinethat was sent to the carburetor in a fine spray and mixed with air to form acombustible mixture. The gasoline carburetor was a revolutionary invention in the early development of the internal combustion engine. It in large part made the automobile a practical choice for transportation.
