Maybach: Cars
built 792 days ago
The production fo a Maybach is an example of high tech craftsmansip. It continues the tradition of the Maybach vehicles of the 1920's and 1930's, and it's carefully handcrafted bodies. The 226,000 sq. ft. factory is an intergral part of the DaimlerChrysler works in Germany.

After releasing the Maybach 57 S, which was a AMG tuned version of the chauffer driven car, Maybach is planning on a Maybach 62 S, a driver-oriented luxury car. The car will push 600 horses and is expected to be unveiled in November.

In conjunction with this superlative amount of power, the Maybach goes beyond conventional automotive standards. The comfort offered by the suspension and the almost complete absence of engine and wind noise predestine the Maybach 62 to be a chauffeur-driven car. Yet its surprising agility is in marked contrast to previous offerings in this segment. The interplay between the engine, with a scarcely detectable automatic transmission, the precise steering and the way the brakes respond when needed put it in a new dimension for driver and passengers alike.

At the push of a button the Maybach is transformed into a luxurious office on wheels: The monitors serve as computer screens for a computer custom-developed for use in a car. It features an 80 Gigabyte hard drive and is connected to the Internet at up to 1.5 times the speed of ISDN using a W-LAN and a fourplex GPRS router. For comfortable operation the system features a handy wireless keyboard and a wireless optical gyro mouse.

Maybach is working together with skilled partners to develop a global logistics concept which ensures that the Saloons are transported with the greatest care and speed. Within Europe, each Maybach will first be carefully protected and then transported by truck from wherever it is in use to the nearest available Service Centre, as agreed in advance by the Personal Liaison Manager and the customer. Elsewhere in the world, as well as in regions where there is no other alternative, the car-maker will deploy sea/air freight containers which have been customised for the luxury Saloons and therefore offer a particularly high level of protection during transport.
