Besides its appeal to utopian sentiments, the Communist version of Marxism ... promoted class hatred of the working class towards the capitalist class. Because the appeal of communism was greater to intellectuals than to workers in many countries, the class hatred was often vicarious. Here's a nice example of its expression, perhaps by a person not given to violence himself.

Marxism is indifferent or even opposed to restricting the powers of government. It provided the basis for totalitarianism in many countries. Objectivism holds that government must be strictly limited, and the everyone should be free to enjoy liberty.

Cambodia today is free from Marxism, but it has still not recovered from Pol Pot's reign of terror. It is a country which has had its spiritual and cultural heritage destroyed. Foreign meme-pedlars such as Bible-belt evangelists have jumped into the cultural and spiritual vacuum - they have realised that if they get in quickly they may be able to establish themselves before the Kampuchean national psyche has time to heal itself.
