WASHINGTON—AARP, the world’s largest advocacy organization for the 50+ community, today announced a new relationship with tennis legend Martina Navratilova in which she will serve as the Health & Fitness ambassador to AARP’s 39 million members. In this role, Ms. Navratilova will be instrumental in AARP’s effort to help its members lead active, healthy lives.

As the clinic closed, Martina took the microphone, thanked everyone, and reminded them to stretch after playing. Then the autograph signing procession began as the tennis legend signed visors, caps, tennis balls and shirts for an enthusiastic group of tennis fans.
"I've always had this outrage against being told how to live, what to say, how to act, what to do, when to do it," Navratilova told Sports Illustrated's Alexander Wolff in September 1994. This outrage explains not only her defection to the United States, but ... the direct, unapologetic way Navratilova conducted her tennis career.
