Marky Mark & Prince Ital Joe were a major act in the early 1990s combining rap and ragga vocals with strong eurodance music courtesy Frank Peterson and Alex Christensen. The Marky Mark project was pitched first to Alex Christensen by EastWest Records. Alex and Frank Peterson had by then already known one another for close on three weeks and the two decided that this could be their first project together. But it was determined that a foil was needed for Mark's rapping and so, only then was Prince Ital Joe brought in for the two to perform on the album Life In The Streets. Joe was born in Dominica as Joe Paquette and lived mostly in Los Angeles. He wrote all his own reggae-lyrics for the album, with references to politics and Dominica as well as co-producing the song Love Of A Mother.

In this new trailer from M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, Marky Mark wants bored schoolkids to think about why all the Earth's honeybees are vanishing. The trouble is, unless you've got a video of giant robots decimating swarms of bees with lasers, the schoolkids just won't care. But once everyone starts dropping dead in their tracks, you can bet they'll start paying attention. Snotty little whiners.

Marky Mark and his funky bunch enjoyed their brief stint in the limelight in this mini teen-pop explosion. But alas, the onset of the grunge and gangsta rap movements spelled the end of Wahlberg’s music career, and he seemed destined to fade with the likes of Gerardo and Right Said Fred. Much to the chagrin of the entertainment industry... Wahlberg resurfaced as an actor in 1995’s acclaimed “Basketball Diaries” and the following year in “Fear.”

A year after the massive success of Life In The Streets which made Marky Mark a household name in Europe (especially Germany), this remix album was released, featuring new reworkings from some of the top dance producers at the time. Two alternate remixes are included for five tracks from the original album (including the three songs released as singles, as well as Babylon and Rastaman Vibration). Mostly club-orientated mixes — so thumping beats, perky synths and aggressive electronic basslines are the order of the day. From the Drum'n'Bass/Jungle interpretation of Babylon by Loop! to the dark Damage Control Remix of Happy People the original tempos be increased, making the vocals ... faster. There are some exceptions, like the surprisingly-appropriate housey Bass Bumpers remix of Happy People.
