There is no doubt that Mark still has what it takes to be competitive behind the wheel. Despite running just 24 races last season, the Chevrolet driver posted a season that statistically was just as strong as any from the previous five seasons. Five top-five finishes and 11 top 10s combined with just two DNFs for a surprisingly strong average finish of 14.5. Among the Ginn drivers, only Mark was able to post a top five while DEI enjoyed a victory and 14 top-five finishes. So Mark should be in equipment that's much improved over last season.

A third of the way into the season, Martin was on the outside looking in. Sitting 12th in the point standings, he needed a strong summer run if he hoped to place himself solidly within the top 10. And a strong summer he got. From the June Dover event to Watkins Glen in August, the Viagra team's average finish was 10.9, moving it up to fifth in the standings and giving it the points required to secure a Chase spot.

Insight: Martin nearly won the Daytona 500 last season, which would have been the first of his career, while leading the way in the point standings until he took the scheduled races off after the fourth event of the season. Martin will be competitive in the Daytona 500 again this season and could easily win a race or two in the #8 Chevrolet. When he is on the track expect a solid finish.
