built 664 days ago
A young cowboy discovers the girl of his dreams (Marilyn Monroe) and decides to make her his wife. She is reluctant to accept his proposal and he forces her to board a bus headed for Montana. The journey is interrupted by an overnight stay at Grace's Diner, where her plight is soon revealed to all. Realizing his brute approach will never win her heart, he apologizes and says goodbye, only to discover she really has grown to love him. Marilyn was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance.

"The vast archive of Marilyn Monroe photographs cemented her in the public conscience like no one before or since," said Susan Lacy, creator and executive producer of AMERICAN MASTERS. "We are telling her story through the iconography of the 20th century. Her relationship with the lens was, perhaps, her greatest and most successful love affair."

Sammy's wife Kari surprised her Birthday Boy by coming on stage dressed from tip to toe like Marilyn Monroe, giving him some love face-first with birthday cake. That was the cue for a larger 3' x 6' birthday cake that was being passed through the packed house ...and then on the ceiling, the floors, the walls and the fans. All in good fun, except for those that had to clean up the mess when the Cantina finally cleared at 3am.
