Marilyn Manson, whose name is Brian Warner, is a shock rocker, known for his ghastly, cadaverous look with makeup and body piercing. He's been on the music scene since1996 and he and his macabre lyrics and outrageous stage behavior have been controversial. His concerts have drawn protests in some cities and some believe his music influenced the two teen-age gunmen in the Columbine shooting.

Though he describes himself as ``poor white trash,'' Manson -- born Brian Hugh Warner -- grew up in a middle-class family in Canton, Ohio. According to his autobiography, ``The Long Hard Road Out of Hell,'' life at home was fine; life at a conservative Christian school was not.
