At Manchester Airport, retail sales are buoyant, passenger numbers growing, and sales densities of some retailers are in excess of £2000 per square foot. To reach Manchester Airport, passengers will find it easiest to travel to the M56 heading towards Manchester City. Either Junction 5 or Junction 6 will lead to the airport. Those opting for Junction 5 will head east and follow signs for the correct terminal. Atlanta Avenue leads directly in front of Terminal 2, Outwood Lane passes Terminal 1, and Ringway Road passes Terminal 3. Junction 6 leads to the World Freight Terminal that they connects up with the other terminals via Thorley Lane.

Four Grade II listed buildings were taken down piece by piece and were re-constructed nearby, and over £20m was spent on environmental restoration and protection.
