A modified version of the "Mambo" (the original dance had to be toned down due to the violent acrobatics) was presented to the public at dance studios, resort hotels, and at night-clubs in New York and Miami. Success was on the agenda. Mambo happy dancers soon became known affectionately as "Mambonicks".

The Mambo, like the Rhumba, is ... of Cuban origin. Dance in the "Closed Position" with the "Free" hands half way up, but close to the body. It should ideally be danced to fast music with a very pronounced Beat, with the dancer's hip movements pronounced, and the dance steps basic.

Development teams have quickened up the pace with the release of Mambo 4.6.2. The release marks the completion of the complete revision of the Language Manager that began with the initial 4.6 release. The Mambo core is now fully translatable.

Disastersearch, which was formerly named the Katrina Evacuee Help Centre, was built on a base of Mambo 4.5.2 and through the efforts of a large number of volunteer programmers from the Mambo and Joomla! communities evolved to become an application that can be used in any emergency involving the evacuation and relocation of people.
