Mallika Sherawat has always been into different controversies right from the movie Murder where there was a strong protest against the movie being passed through the censor. Mallika had some 16 Kisses in the movie and some steamy scenes with the co-actor. When Mallika was in cannes festival where she was one of the strong attracting for all the right reasons :) … but some controversy had to strike at that moment.

Mallika Sherawat hails from Rohtak, India. She was an air-hostess initially. Many people do not know that she was married to a pilot but the marriage did not work out and they separated. Mallika Sherawat then tried her hand in show business and she achieved overnight success with her film Murder. Her success is mainly attributed to her bold scenes which is not usually seen in Indian movies.

Mallika Sherawat cemented her reputation as a sexpot in 2004 with the release of Murder, which cast the actress as a married woman who embarks upon an illicit affair. The film, essentially a remake of the 2002 Richard Gere and Diane Lane film Unfaithful, proved that Mallika had no qualms about showing plenty of skin on the big screen. After landing a nomination for Best Actress at India’s Zee Cine Awards, Mallika suddenly had the status and reputation to write her own ticket.

Mallika became popular for her show of skin and several kisses in her movie Khwahish (2003) which was, by Indian standards quite scandalous, as it featured seventeen on-screen kisses. Later that year, she starred in Murder, again a film that raised eyebrows, since she showed a lot of skin. She was nominated in the 'Best Actress' category in the Zee Cine Awards, for her part in Murder. She has ... been in the news for an appearance in a Jackie Chan film, The Myth, in which she plays the daughter of a marital arts veteran. She appeared at the Cannes film festival in a revealing outfit as part of the publicity for the film.

In the first two films she appeared in (under the name Mallika Sherawat), Sherawat was appeared in a number of outfits that were considered racy in Indian cinema at that current time. However, Sherawat proved to be more than just a pretty face in skimpy attire with the release of her third film, Murder. In the film she starts as a woman wrongfully accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend. Based upon the plotline Murder is noted for being the Bollywood version of the Hollywood film Unfaithful starring Diane Lane and Richard Gere.

With Murder, Mallika won mass approval from the audiences and the movie became the most successful hit of the year. This movied was based on a popular foriegn film Unfaithful. Mallika appeared in revealing out fits in the movie. Mallika Sherawat and Emran Hashmi Kissing scenes from murder were sensational as lip to lip kissing was considered taboo in Hindi movies at that time. Murder was a trend setter that allowed film makers to make up their minds and include kissing scenes in their movies if the script demands. Mallika was nominated best actress Zee Cine Awards for her role in Murder.
