Major Medical Insurance: Policies
built 658 days ago
Basic Health Insurance is not comprehensive major medical insurance. It is a lower-cost alternative providing fixed-amount limited benefits that are paid directly to each insured for the most often used types of medical services. Policy forms are intended to comply fully with all applicable state insurance statutes and regulations. Due to differing state requirements, benefits, terms and conditions may vary by state from this description.
Most major medical policies begin paying benefits after the deductible is satisfied. The policy's deductible is considered satisfied as long as the insured individual can show evidence of having incurred and paid the necessary covered expense. There are essentially two classes of comprehensive major medical plans: those that provide first dollar coverage, and those that do not. With first dollar coverage, as soon as covered medical expenses are incurred, the policy immediately begins to pay benefits. Consequently, policies with first dollar coverage effectively have a deductible amount of zero. Without first dollar coverage, the insured must first pay out-of-pocket a specified deductible amount, and when that amount of incurred covered expenses has been paid, the policy will then begin to pay benefits.

If everyone on the policy is in good health with healthy living habits, it is possible to find a Texas major medical insurance plan at a reasonable price. If there are no health issues, it is a wise decision to have a high deductible. If anyone to be insured is being treated for any ongoing health problem, it will be more difficult to find total coverage. Individual and short-term policies do not fall under the same guidelines as group policies for accepting pre-existing conditions.
Comprehensive Major Medical Insurance Covers the Increasing Hospitalization Charges The comprehensive major medical insurance policy covers the fees paid to a medical specialist for laboratory examinations, diagnosis and x-rays. The reimbursement will be paid only if the examinations are conducted on the recommendation of a qualified medical practitioner for the assessment of an injury or illness. The insured will only get the reimbursement if he/she is later hospitalized for treatment.

Today, the cost of a serious illness or accident can be far beyond the benefits provided by the average hospitalization or major medical insurance policy. Rising hospital and convalescent home costs, escalating doctor’s fees, expensive medicine, specialized surgical procedures and new equipment can push your expenses far over the limit your basic insurance was ever designed to handle.

Major medical plans offer health care insurance for major medical care. Some offer coverage for dental procedures and maternity care, and some offer coverage for prescription medication and health care provided by a physician or hospital within the policies span of health care providers (HMOs and PPOs, for example).
