AURORA, ON, Jan. 25 /CNW/ - Magna Entertainment Corp. ("MEC") (NASDAQ: MECA; TSX: MEC.A) today announced that, in conjunction with Woodbine Entertainment(R) ("Woodbine"), its popular Magna 5 wager will be available to Canadian patrons beginning this Saturday, January 27, 2007. Magna 5, the $2 Pick Five wager on coast-to-coast races for a $500,000 guaranteed pool each Saturday, challenges players to select winners in five races from premier tracks like Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields. The fast-paced action of the hour-long racing sequence and juicy payoffs make Magna 5 an attractive wagering proposition. Last season's Magna 5 produced one payoff over $80,000 and four other winning tickets were worth over $6,000 per $2 investment. The record Magna 5 payoff occurred in 2005 when one correct ticket was worth $406,985.80. This Saturday, Magna 5 begins with Laurel's ninth race and includes the fourth and fifth races from Santa Anita Park as well as the ninth and tenth events from Gulfstream Park.
