Macromedia continued on the M&A trail and, in December 1999, it acquired traffic analysis software company Andromedia. Web development company Allaire was acquired in 2001 and Macromedia added several popular server and Web development products to its portfolio, including ColdFusion, a web application server based on the CFML language, JRun, a J2EE application server, and HomeSite, an HTML code editor that was ... bundled with Dreamweaver.

Since Contribute integrates with Dreamweaver, it is strongly recommended that all Macromedia Contribute training attendees be familiar with Dreamweaver. If attendees will not be familiar with Dreamweaver, a primer on the necessary features can be integrated into this course upon request.

Contribute is a program created by Macromedia which allows users to edit websites without having prior knowledge of HTML. A web designer/administrator creates the page design in a program like Dreamweaver, and then he or she sets up the page for use in Contribute by creating a template, often with editable and non-editable areas.
