Alcaeus and Sappho, Attic red-figure kalathos, ca. 470 BC, Staatliche Antikensammlungen (Inv. 2416) Lyric poetry for the ancient Greeks had a precise and technical meaning: verse that was accompanied by the lyre. The lyric poet was classified as distinct from the writer of plays (which were spoken rather than sung), the writer of trochaic and iambic verses (which were recited), from the writer of elegies (which were accompanied by the flute, rather than the lyre) and the writer of epics.[3] The scholars of Hellenistic Alexandria identified nine lyric poets worthy of critical study. These archaic Greek musician-poets included Sappho, Pindar, Anacreon and Alcaeus. The metrical forms characteristic of ancient Greek sung verse are strophes, antistrophes and epodes.[4] The Roman poet Catullus was influenced by Sappho as well as the Neoteric poets who had turned away from epic poetry to more personal themes. Horace was another notable Roman poet.
In 22 ABY, Lyric turned twenty and had to undergo the Changing Ceremony, in which young Melodies would change from land-dwellers to water-breathers, making them Elders (the adults of Melodie society). Since Yavin 8 was dangerous, her two fellow Jedi trainees Anakin Solo and Tahiri Veila accompanied Lyric. Shortly after the trio's arrival, they fell under attack by several native predators including an avril, a reel, a purella and several raiths. However, Anakin and Tahiri fought and killed them all.[1]
In addition to integrating Lyric with the Liberate Mediacast Server, Chyron has ... become a PopTV Infrastructure Partner. As part of Chyron’s involvement in the program, Lyric tool is now available within the Liberate Content Studio for Liberate’s Partners to either develop or test new interactive programmes.
The Lyric is funded in part by the Fulton County Commission through a grant from the Fulton County Arts Council, and through the Georgia Council for the Arts, through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. The Council is a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. The Lyric is a member of the Atlanta Coalition of Performing Arts.
Like the rest of her species, Lyric was hatched from an egg and lived the first twenty years of her life on land. She lived at Sistra, one of the moon's many purple mountains. Due to the dangerous conditions on her homeworld and that she was Force-sensitive, her parents sent her to Master Luke Skywalker's Jedi Praxeum on nearby Yavin 4.[1]
