Self-guided tours of the Johnson Settlement... in Johnson City, are available from 9:00 a.m. until sunset seven days a week. Costumed or ranger-guided interpretive tours of the Johnson Settlement are offered as staffing permits.

One block west, via a nature trail, is Johnson Settlement, which was owned by President’s grandfather and great-uncle 1867-72, and gathering point of seven-county area for cattle drives. The rustic 1856 dog-trot cabin, 1880 stone farm buildings, exhibit center, and pastures with grazing Texas Longhorn cattle reflect the frontier heritage. Operated by National Park Service. From Fredericksburg, take Highway 290 eastbound to Johnson City. After passing the traffic light at Nugent Street in Johnson City, go two blocks and turn right onto Avenue F. Go two blocks and turn right onto Ladybird Lane. The parking lot and visitor center are on the left. Note: You will pass the LBJ Ranch District on your way to Johnson City -- see next direction.

The LBJ Ranch is located 14 miles west of Johnson City near Stonewall, Texas. A second visitor center, operated by LBJ State Park and Historic Site, is located near the Ranch. In order to see the LBJ Ranch, visitors take a National Park bus tour from State Park visitor center.

Directions: The park is located 2 miles east of Stonewall, 14 miles west of Johnson City on US Highway 290 toward Fredericksburg. Adjacent to both Ranch Road 1 and US Highway 290; enter on Park Road 52.
