[T]he word on the street is that one of your Guide to R&B's favorite male singers, Lyfe Jennings, is getting ready to drop a new album called Change in February 2008. The first song out is "Cops Up," about a player who's steadily falling in love. somebody call the cops up.") The song's unusually uptempo and catchy for Lyfe, who's more known for his gritty material. There's even a rap verse at the beginning of the track, but to be honest, it adds little to the song. Lyfe Jennings’s new album, titled Lyfe Change, is being released at the end of April. As opposed to his earlier work he brings that lighter, more upbeat feel to his songs. He talks more about love but not in a cheesy 14-year old way. He speaks of real emotions and real life situations. The tracks feature a lot of collaborations with artists like Snoop Dogg, Wyclef Jean, Lil Wayne and others. His friend Young Buck is absent from it, perhaps bringing the album more of that new feel Lyfe presents on it. The first video from it, Cops Up, has an incredible originality of a true artist, the sexiness of real beauty and the truth of the voice of the streets.

As of now, Lyfe's third album, Lyfe Change, is scheduled for release in February or March 2008 on the Sony Urban/Columbia label. The first single is "Cops Up," an uptempo love song that represents a big change in direction from the usual mid-tempo and downtempo ballads and 'message' songs that Lyfe is known for.

Change is indeed a constant in the growth of any person's growth and personal evolution so it seems as though Lyfe is on the right track. Speaking of change, "Changes" is the name of his forthcoming third album due out in the spring of 2008.
