Lycos is pleased to announce the beta release of Get Specific, a great way to narrow down what you are looking for. Just do a normal search on Lycos Search or on Lycos Advanced Search for any topic. If the topic is a broad one, not only can you "Get Specific" by adding other terms to narrow down the field of results, but Lycos will let you know what other specific related terms others are searching for. It's that easy.

Note that the default is for Lycos to return only 10 results per page on the output for your search. You can increase the number of returned matches up to a maximum of forty (40) results per output page. Increasing the number of outputs per page makes screening your search results go a bit faster.

Lycos has now full integrated the Open Directory Project (ODP) into its mainstream results pages. Certain categories of ODP sites pull extremely well from the Lycos version of the ODP. It is very wise to get your site properly listed in the ODP.

Note that the default is for Lycos to display "standard results." The standard output display format provides a list of links to the sites found. Each is accompanied by a brief summary extracted from the text of the WWW page, itself, which gives you some idea of its content. The standard results option is probably the best initial output choice.
