CRJ-200 of Lufthansa Regional The Lufthansa logo, an encircled crane in flight, was created in 1918. It was part of the livery of the first German airline, Deutsche Luftreederei GmbH (DLR), which began air service on 5 February 1919. The stylised crane was designed by Professor Otto Firle. In 1926 Lufthansa adopted this symbol from Aero Lloyd AG, which merged with DLR in 1923. The original creator of the name Lufthansa is believed to be F.A. Fischer von Puturzyn.
Like many commercial aviation companies, Lufthansa has been among the pioneers of using technologybased solutions for training and development of their highly skilled personnel. In the past, this meant relying heavily on the customized development of e-learning materials by third party agencies commissioned independently by Lufthansa’s 23 business units.

In the fourth round of pay talks, Lufthansa and the public service workers union ver.di reached an accord at the weekend on a new labour agreement. The agreement will run for a total of 17 months until the end of May 2008.
Lufthansa evaluated 25 solutions on the market but only ForceTen was able to support the entire range of requirements from allowing easy access authoring to highly advanced collaborative development of high-end aviation content. Additionally, ForceTen’s outstanding Content Management tools made it the ideal option for managing a single data repository across multiple business units.

The restructuring of the Lufthansa CityLine fleet which began in 1994 reaches its peak in 1996. With the exception of four Fokker 50s, at the end of the year Lufthansa CityLine has an all-jet fleet comprising 28 CRJ and 15 Avro RJ85s.
