Lufthansa was the first partner worldwide for Connexion by Boeing's Internet broadband service. Lufthansa began Flynet® on board in mid-May 2004 and it was exceptionally well received by customers. US Airways and Lufthansa [W]ill begin their code share relationship that includes reciprocal frequent-flier mileage accrual Oct. 26 2003. US Airways will add its code to Lufthansa flights between Frankfurt and Berlin, Boston, Duesseldorf, Hamburg, Philadelphia, Nuremberg and Stuttgart as well as flights between Munich and Berlin, Duesseldorf and Hamburg. Lufthansa will add its code to US Airways flights between Philadelphia and Albany, Baltimore/Washington International, Elmira, Greensboro, Hartford, Manchester (N.H.), Pittsburgh, Providence, Raleigh-Durham, San Juan, Reagan Washington National Airport, West Palm Beach, White Plains and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Lufthansa ... will code share on US Airways flights between Pittsburgh and both Frankfurt and Boston, Philadelphia and both Frankfurt and Munich, and between Charlotte and Frankfurt.

Lufthansa was founded on January6, 1926 in Berlin, following a merger between "Deutsche Aero Lloyd" (DAL) and "Junkers Luftverkehr". The company's original name was Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft. After the Second World War when Germany was divided into two parts, Lufthansa remained with the West Germany. Lufthansa was banned from flying into East Germany until the collapse of the communist regime. In June 2003 Lufthansa opened new Terminal 2 at MunichInternational Airport to relieve its main hub, Frankfurt.
