Lucy Lawless proved she was more than just agile with a sword when she starred on Broadway with Rosie O'Donnell in Grease. Not only was her acting applauded, but her singing got rave reviews too. You know someone's career is going well when they start making dolls of you.

Even before “Xena” ended production in 2001 after six seasons, Lawless started displaying her versatility. In 1997 she appeared on Broadway as Rizzo in the musical “Grease.” Earlier this year in Seattle, she performed in a production of “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.”

The year of 1996 was momentous for Lawless. In August, Lawless appeared on the hit talk show The Rosie O'Donnell Show where she performed "I'm an old Cowhand". One of the producers from the musical Grease! on Broadway was watching the show and was so impressed when Lucy started singing that he called her and Lucy was on the road to Broadway to star as Rizzo in Grease! for the following year.
