The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Lucasfilm is going to put video clips from Star Wars on its website tomorrow that fans will be able to use on social networking websites. Lucasfilm is ... going to place -- or link to -- video mixing software from Eyespot Corp. of San Diego that will allow fans to modify the Star Wars and combine them with other audio and video clips.
Rob Coleman, Animation and Development Director, who joins the animation division after twelve years at Lucasfilm's visual effects house, Industrial Light & Magic. Coleman served as animation director on Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, a role he ... fulfilled on the two previous Star Wars movies. In 2002, Entertainment Weekly named Rob to the "It List" as one of the most creative people in entertainment, for his work on the digital Yoda. He has been nominated for two Oscars for his work on "Attack of the Clones" and "The Phantom Menace" and two British Academy Awards (BAFTAs) for his work on Men in Black and "The Phantom Menace". He has received two MTV Movie Awards and two Saturn Awards for best visual effects on the Star Wars movies.

The Lucasfilm lawsuit reflects recent aggressive efforts by the copyright holders of popular films and TV shows to discourage unsanctioned -- and unlicensed -- merchandise and often even fan Web sites. Publishers as well as fans are beginning to complain that creative works like the Star Wars series are so vastly popular and have such a pervasive cultural impact that these suits suppress legitimate commentary and First Amendment rights.
While Lucasfilm is best known in association with the Star Wars and Indiana Jones film series, the company is actively involved in many facets of the entertainment industry. Lucasfilm is comprised of multiple divisions, each leading in its area. Some former Lucasfilm initiatives have moved on to become successful and innovative companies in their own right, including Avid Technology Inc., Pixar Animation Studios and THX Ltd.
In her position, Gary will oversee all aspects of Lucasfilm's Star Wars publishing programs. The company currently has deals with Random House, Scholastic, DK and Dark Horse Comics. Howard Roffman, president of Lucas Licensing, said Gary is "a publishing veteran with keen insights into both product and marketing and has the stature and savvy we need to manage a publishing franchise as big as Star Wars." There are more than 60 million copies of Star Wars books in print.
