Louise Brooks lived from 1906 to 1985. She was a silent movie star during the 1920s who participated in several successful Hollywood productions. She was aquainted with most idols and celebrities of the Jazz Age including F.Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda, Greta Garbo and William Randolph Hearst. Her bob hairstyle started a sensational trend in the flapper generation. She got herself into a lifelong drinking habit.

Her sultry pout expressed fear, anger and sadness all at once. Her warm smile articulated love, beauty, laughter and desire. But Louise Brooks chose solitude over celebrity. Sixty years later, she reemerged in the public's eye with a critically acclaimed autobiography, Lulu in Hollywood (1982).

Louise refused to play the Hollywood game. At 24, after 21 pictures, studio bosses put her aside. She went to France to do a picture, then did two for the German director, G.B. Pabst.
