Lost Kingdoms II is a third-person action title conceptually similar to collectible card games (CCGs) Magic: The Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh. But instead of using a turn-based interface, it's all about real-time combat. When enemies are encountered in a level, combat occurs immediately with no separate "battle screen" or loadtime. Featuring a main character who uses enchanted cards to summon creatures, the tale of heroine Tara Grimface takes place hundreds of years after the first Lost Kingdoms... on the GameCube.

Lost Kingdoms II has a good premise, but it stumbles along the way in terms of game play. The combat mechanics are weak and the use of the playing cards, while a sound idea, is somewhat distracting to the overall feel of the game. Lost Kingdoms II is a beautiful game, to be sure, but it has other elements that make it merely average at best.
Taniguchi: Lost Kingdoms II has 226 cards, more than twice as many as in the previous Lost Kingdoms. Since there are many unique characters and cool monsters, players should be able to find one that they can call their favorite/

Lost Kingdoms IIscreenshot Lost Kingdoms II takes place many generations after the original. Now Katia, the heroine of the first game, is remembered as a legendary queen. Instead you'll play as Tara, an attractive yet reserved young woman who is traveling with a band of thieves, trying to make ends meet in a dangerous and unfriendly world. Tara is an outcast even among her allies, yet they grudgingly accept her company, because Tara--like Katia from Lost Kingdoms--wields the power of the runestone. This giant jewel slung across her back is the secret to Tara's ability to use powerful magic cards in battle. The game's plot pits Tara and her allies against a pompous king and his army of magical, mechanized servants, though the story isn't fleshed out much, and isn't quite as engaging as it could have been.
Developed by FromSoftware, Inc., Lost Kingdoms II places players once again in the perilous realm of Argwyll, this time as a new heroine named Tara -- an abandoned child raised by a gang of thieves who possesses a magical Runestone. As Tara, players must use the Runestone to summon both supernatural and mechanical Guardian Creatures as they travel through more than 26 vivid worlds filled with forests, mountains and fortresses. Drawing upon their deck of more than 200 Guardian Creature Cards -- including 100 all-new cards, players can battle more than 200 enemies ranging from fighting skeletons and fire-breathing dragons to new mechanized beasts. Additionally, a new Card Transformational Ability enables gamers to turn into a variety of creatures giving them the opportunity to launch devastating power attacks, overcome obstacles, solve puzzles and venture to hidden areas throughout the game.
