Boxart for Lost Kingdoms Although Lost Kingdoms is the first RPG to grace the GameCube's library, don't expect a Final Fantasy-like fiesta of cut-scenes and random puzzles. The world is divided into over 25 locations, which are gradually opened up as you complete previous levels and advance the story along. Each world is as long as your typical RPG quest, right down to the evil boss (and his foreboding music) at the end.

Atsushi: Lost Kingdoms is an Action RPG with an expansive Card-based battle system. The game combines the best features of an Action RPG with a strategically oriented card-based battle system that together creates a new game-play experience. Lost Kingdoms is a mixture of the following three elements:
It is imperative that you learn to master the card combat system in Lost Kingdoms and this begins by learning about the cards themselves. Each card and associated creature has a base attribute of either fire, water, earth, wood, or is a neutral entity. As you might imagine, each element is strongest against another element and is weaker than another. Only by stacking your 30 card deck in anticipation of the monsters you will face will you be able to make it through a level alive. That's right, you are limited to a minimal 30 cards per level and once you use a card in a level there are few ways to slip them back in your deck. This sets you up for one of the few actual drawbacks to the game in that once you run out of cards you are out of luck.
The story in Lost Kingdoms II takes place two centuries after the original game. Katia, from the first game, is long gone and is now remembered as a great queen. The heroine in this game is known as Tara Grimface, a young woman armed with a rune stone and a deck of magical cards that is trying to learn about her past. After the opening cinema sequence... the story takes a backseat to the card-battling gameplay. There are a few surprises along the way, but overall the story is pretty forgettable.

Lost Kingdoms II After the events of the original Lost Kingdoms, the Kingdom of Argwyll stands on the brink of destruction. Now you must take the role of Tara as she summons the guardian creatures to battle the invading evil force, uncover its origins, and save the kingdom. In the game's enhanced card-based battle system, you can now collect and power up more than 200 creature cards. New abilities allow you to transform into creatures and fight in different battle areas.
One of the first RPG games for the Gamecube, Lost Kingdoms takes you on an adventure into a magical world, where guardian beasts are summoned to battle malicious foes. Collect and power up more than 100 Guardian Creature Cards - from Fighting Skeletons to Ravaging Wolves - summoning them to fight in real-time battles against hordes of evil monsters. [Activision]
